Pro Travel Network leverages the direct sales approach to market to and acquire new Home-Based travel agents via the purchase of its ITAP training program. In contrast to traditional travel-related companies, who focus their advertising efforts on the end customer, Pro Travel Network spends nothing on traditional advertising. Pro Travel Network has created and continues to grow a large network of commissioned Independent Representatives (IRs), who pay a nominal monthly license fee to market the home-based agent product. That product is called the “Independent Travel Agent Program” or “ITAP”. Pro Travel network currently has over 6000+ and growing, active IRs who acquire new home-based agents. Once a new agent is acquired Pro Travel Network retains between 20-50% of the commission for each booking made thereafter.
The marketing arm of Pro Travel Network acts as a direct sales organization selling the PTN Independent Travel Agent Program (ITAP), and has sold over 20,000 ITAPs to date. Once acquired (via purchase of the ITAP), these new Independent Travel Agents have the ability to book all types of travel including internet, individual and group travel. As part of the continuing strategy, Pro Travel Network continually looks to grow and expand the representative base through recruitment, enrollment, initial and on-going training, and support.

U.S. travel agents sold nearly $110 billion in travel in 2006, representing 41% of the total travel marketplace, including online travel agencies that figure exceeded $140 billion, more than half of the total travel market. The Internet has been a significant area of growth and a central driver of change in travel distribution over the past decade. These changes have created tremendous opportunity for new travel agency models, such as cruise-only, home-based, specialized (focused on a particular destination or type of travel, such as adventure, family or honeymoons and weddings) and host agencies. A Host Agency allows home-based agents to forgo the cost of GDS contracts, ARC accounts, and other agency requirements by piggybacking on the host agency’s booking, fulfillment, accreditation and other services.
