Other than the continuing negative PR value for shale gas opponents this city ban means nothing. Companies as a rule (other than in Fort Worth, Texas) do not plan to drill any wells within city limits. I lived in a northern BC town with NG all around and the residents got up in arms and demanded town Council ban NG drilling in town limits. Town Council obliged and passed a motion banning it knowing it was a moot point. Kinda like a city declaring it is a Nuclear Free Zone.
