The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that BlackBerry maker Research in Motion has made the Dallas suburb of Irving, Tex., as the home of its new U.S. headquarters. The Globe's Matt Hartley writes that RIM says the move reinforces its commitment to the U.S. consumer market. It also affords the Waterloo, Ont., technology company better access to developing markets in Mexico as well as Central and South America. RIM's new base of U.S. operations occupies more than 100,000 square feet in the city's Las Colinas business park. RIM expects to employ more than 1,000 people in the research and development, technical support, business operations and administration aspects of the business. RIM shares fell $6.74 Monday to $101.02 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
