This strategy seems to me to be a form of arbitrage. The assumption to make it work is that there is no long-lasting material change that makes one of the three companies inherently more or less valuable relative to the other two (i.e., good and bad developments have the same proportionate effect on the true value of each company). Is it valid? That's the 6.4 million ounce question....
