The Board of Directors of Sherritt International Corporation ("Sherritt" or the "Company") (TSX:S) takes pleasure in announcing the appointment of David V. Pathe as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and his election as a Director, effective January 1, 2012. Mr. Pathe has been with Sherritt since 2007 and has held several key executive positions in addition to his current role as CFO, including Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining Sherritt, Mr. Pathe practiced law in Toronto, London and Paris, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions and international finance. Mr. Pathe is a graduate of the University of British Columbia and Queen's University and lives in Toronto with his wife and three children.
Ian W. Delaney, Sherritt's current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, has elected to retire, having been with Sherritt and its predecessor companies for 21 years. He will continue as Chairman of the Board.
