"Tid Bits" on other activity (Favourable Lake area)

posted on Dec 04, 07 12:54PM
Two years ago I made an inquirey thru a prospector/exploration chap I know up in the Red Lake area about an x-producer at Borthwick Lake.  A mine shaft and full scale mine site had been in place some 10 km from Favourable Lake and abandoned some years ago.  I was told that those claims were owned by Anaconda Gold Corp ANX and would be immediately north of Shoreham's Setting Net Lake claims.  ANX presently make no note of these claims on their website however two news releases dated 6 Sept 02 and 28 Mar 02 on Sedar.com indicates that ANX did acquire claims at Borthwick Lake and Lingman Lake from Wolfden Res and that Ewan Downey, the founder of Wolfden became a Director of ANX.  They mention near surface gold on these claims however mining at that time included both underground and surface workings.  It also mentions that ANX had a uranium property however I could not find exactly where it was located in that area.  Miners at that time used the winter road going to Pickle Lake as a  transportation route.  Info only.  Leodor.
