People are more abt to believe the negative rather than the positive. So these stories get attention. I certain do believe that we may have some worse times coming, but I have a lot of faith in the American people and people of other countries.
The author says to move outside the city, maybe on a farm. Unless you are very isolated, the hungry will come and steal your food. Will you shoot them? He also talks about driving to town. Will there be any fuel?
Those selling gold almost always paint a picture of doom and gloom. Why? If it is a good investment, why do you have to have society on the brink of disaster to buy it. I think one should own gold, but not because civilization is going to be destroyed.
Have you ever thought about $3000 gold? Gold has tripled, so this is the same as the dollar going to 33 cents. You have an ounce and want to buy the services of an individual or something the person has? If all the doom and gloom happens, where do you get change. The gold sellers may have been robbed and destroyed as society became chaotic. The banks may be looted and ... Paper money may be losing its value day after day. You have seen what happened in New Orleans with the shooting and looting. What if this is happening everywhere?
In all the senarios I read, gold goes way up, the economy has been destroyed, but everything is there for you and your gold to buy. You can shop, buy, eat out at a food establishment, ... Yet those people waiting on you, serving you food and meeting your needs have been economically destoryed, they have little food, there homes are being taken from them, ... Society is normal in every respect except for who has money and who doesn't. There is no shooting and looting. Almost nobody has money, but everthing continues to function so the few can enjoy their gold and what it buys. The food place has no customers, but stays open in case you come by. Same for any other place you want to go.
Something doesn't make sense?
Now, gold could go up because it becomes more scare or because of demand. This isn't tied to the collapse of the dollar and the economy. While there is merit in this, I find touble with anyone selling gold and telling me society is going to collapse. I have trouble with anyone telling of the destruction of the economy and avoiding it by some simplistic measure, like moving outside the city.
