Message: Belledune not lead smelter anymore

Glencore importing silver with large deposits sitting within miles of Belledune. People unemployed in N.B. and they are shipping in material from Continents far away!!! Come on Glencore, if you are going to use Belledune how about some action for the local silver deposits in N.B.

Xstrata Smelter Expects Solid Year For Silver

The GM of the Xstrata Smelter in Belledune says the company hopes to produce 615 metric tonnes of silver this year.

Marc Duchesne says that would be a 50 per cent increase.

Duchesne says they had to diversify because of the closure of the mine coming up the end of March.

He says it's not a lead smelter anymore, he says the company decided that a silver refinery makes more sense.

They are getting their material from Chile, Peru, and Boliva.
