I'm not a day trader, and I use stink bids. But I don't think of them as stink bids. I think of them as the most efficient use of my money. If I see a higher than normal volume and a falling price, I get my bid in early so that if it hits my price at all during the day, I'm first in line at that price point. If I don't get filled, and I really want in, I might adjust my price. But I get filled often enough that it has become my preferred strategy, even though I am long on every purchase I make. Yes, I miss some opportunities, but each day brings new ones.
