TAGISH ANNOUNCES DATE OF SPECIAL SHAREHOLDER MEETING

Tagish Lake Gold Corp. has tentatively set a date of Feb. 19, 2009, for the special shareholders meeting to approve the merger with Yukon-Shaanxi Mining Company Inc. Tagish and Yukon-Shaanxi are completing their due diligence. As the process continues through the next steps, shareholders and investors will be kept informed of progress. The transaction will require TSX Venture Exchange approval, court approval under the Business Corporation Act of British Columbia, as well as the shareholder approval at the special meeting.
