Well there are alot of factors affecting how commodities sell on the market nowadays. But gold differs from other commodities. It is the qualitative measurement of ones value.

Oil, potash, silver, minerals, uranium the rest they are dependent on sales; and China seems to be offsetting their prices. In fears of loosing that market companies are in a bid war with china. Think about it. Wouldn't you sell at 25% less if you could get 60% the demand?
