VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/05/10 -- VMS Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE: VMS) (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mark Fedikow as Vice President Exploration. Dr. Fedikow is also VP of Technical Services for the Company.

Dr. Fedikow was appointed to the Board of Directors in April 2008 and has been directly involved in all aspects of the Company's exploration activities since that time. Mark has 34 years of mineral exploration experience as an exploration geochemist and mineral deposits geologist in private industry and government geological surveys. He has run his own consulting company since 2002. In 2001, he was the recipient of the Provincial Geologists Medal, a Canadian national award for outstanding geoscientific achievement. He has published numerous articles on mineral deposits and their geochemical expressions in rock, soil and vegetation sample media. Specifically, he has applied the Mobile Metal Ions Process (MMI) in exploration programs for a wide variety of mineral deposit types including base metal massive sulphide, lode gold, porphyry copper and magmatic nickel-copper-PGM all over the world.

His expertise with exploration geochemical techniques is an integral part of the Company's overall exploration strategy, which compiles state-of-the-art airborne and ground geophysical surveys with historical exploration data anchored by a sound geological foundation.

At a VMS Directors meeting, the Board of VMS Ventures decided not to re-appoint Dr. George Gale as Vice President of Exploration and to terminate his management agreement effective December 31st 2009. The terms and conditions of Dr. Gale's management agreement will expire on December 31st 2010.

Dr. Gale took the lead role in building the Company's extensive Manitoba property package in the Manitoba Flin Flon - Snow Lake greenstone belt. Dr. Gale intends to provide geological consulting services to a broad range of exploration companies. Dr. Gale will continue to sit as a director of the Company.
