Do you see any historical parallels with American Barrick?

I'm not up on ABX's history esp. in Nevada but I wonder if there are any historical parallels between Victoria and Barrick. Were their first discoveries in Nevada? Which discovery was their company-maker? What was the company like during its first $100 million market cap phase?

I guess to see any historical parallels, one could read up on Peter Munk. Any good books or sites about Munk?
