Manitoba Mining and Minerals Convention

posted on Nov 05, 09 12:33PM

Here are details on the upcoming Mining Convention where Wildact and other companies of interest will be displaying their information. I copied the info below from the website of the Convention: http://www.gov.mb.ca/stem/mrd/minerals/convention/index.html

Also of note, Tom Lewis, the new Wildcat VP will be doing a presentation at 9:00 am on the Saturday, so that would be a good opportunity to hear from him. He will also be around the Wildcat booth so that you can talk with him in person.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Convention runs November 19-21st; it is free to the public: Saturday, November 21, 8:30 a.m. to noon

The Manitoba Mining and Minerals Convention is your foremost opportunity to gain the competitive edge in Manitoba's mining and exploration industry. The most recent government geological data are presented through poster displays, one-on-one conversations with government geologists, and technical program presentations. Business and technical sessions focus on topics important to the mineral exploration industry and geoscience community, and deal with "what's new" on the Manitoba mining and exploration scene. A trade show running concurrently features mining and exploration services and products, as well as a showcase of Manitoba's properties available for option and investment. The 2008 Manitoba Mining and Minerals Convention attracted close to 1,000 delegates.

Find out more about Manitoba's

  • World-class deposits of nickel, copper, zinc, gold, tantalum, lithium and cesium.
  • Excellent potential for platinum group metals, rare earth elements, diamonds, titanium, vanadium, chromite, silica, potash and uranium.
  • Mineral Exploration Assistance Program (MEAP) and the Prospectors Assistance Program (MPAP ) that offers over $2.5 million annually to support mineral exploration and prospecting.
  • Special training initiative of $1 million that will help workers in northern communities adjust to the difficult economic times. The new initiative will also work with Aboriginal communities to train greater numbers of people for the employment and business opportunities presented by future mine developments.
  • Mineral Exploration Tax Credit that provides tax incentives for Manitobans who invest in Manitobabased exploration projects. The MMETC helps stimulate investment in junior exploration companies operating in Manitoba.
  • Stable, secure land tenure system.
  • Web access to Manitoba’s geoscience data, mineral dispositions, non-confidential assessment reports and drill hole locations.
  • Rank of being in the top 10 in the world for policy attractiveness based on the 2008/2009 Fraser Institute Survey.
  • Tax holiday for new mines until profits exceed the total cost of capital assets.
  • Lowest published electricity rates in North America.
  • Diversified economy that positions Manitoba very well to weather global economic downturns and to sustain tax reductions.
  • Mineral exploration in 2008 reaching an all-time high of $141.5 million, representing 5% of the Canadian total.
