CALGARY, Jan 05, 2005 -- Call Genie Inc.(GNE:TSX.V), a Calgary-based technology company, said Wednesday it is preparing to launch a wireless store-finding service with Yellow Pages Group, Canada`s largest publisher of telephone directories.
Call Genie said testing of the service in the Toronto area is complete and the company is preparing commercial launch of the service in that early this year, with Yellow Pages providing marketing, sales and customer management support.
It`s anticipated that the two companies will work together to expand the service to other cities throughout Ontario and Quebec, using Toronto as proof the concept works.
Call Genie`s EVD Service is designed to enable consumers to search for, locate and retrieve information on everyday products and services, using their mobile or landline telephones.
The company said consumers will be able to call a local Toronto area telephone number and speak to Genie, an automated attendant, who will determine their needs and location then offer up relevant merchants.
From the consumer`s perspective, there will be no service charges to access the EVD Service through the local Call Genie telephone number and the EVD Service will be available 24 hours a day, the company said.
Call Genie shares (TSXV:GNE) are listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. They closed Monday at 45 cents and have a 52-week range of 30 to 48 cents.
