New Zinx Cough Kit™ and Zinx Cold Kit™ Give Sufferers a Convenient Solution to Effectively Treat Symptoms Associated with the Common Cold
LOS ANGELES - Auriga Laboratories, Inc. (OTCBB:ARGA), a specialty pharmaceutical company with products for the treatment of acute respiratory diseases, dermatological conditions, and xerostomia, today launched its Zinx™ line of cold remedy products.
The new Zinx family of products includes prescription and over-the-counter products that use a unique patent-protected zinc formulation clinically proven to reduce the duration and severity of the common cold. Zinx Lozenges are available without a prescription, and two convenience kits, Zinx Cold Kit™ and Zinx Cough Kit™, are the first prescription products to include zinc lozenges.
Auriga will market Zinx to physicians and pharmacists through its expanding 200 member national sales force and beginning with the launch of www.zinxlozenges.com, Auriga will also go direct-to-consumer through a nation-wide print and internet promotional campaign. Zinx Lozenges will be distributed nationally through traditional pharmacies as well as through a popular on-line pharmacy retailer.
Zinx Lozenges are a novel zinc formulation employing the principles demonstrated in two independent, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials published in peer-reviewed medical journals to dramatically reduce the duration and severity of common cold symptoms. Numerous zinc products are available; however, the patented formulation of Zinx has the highest level of zinc ion availability (ZIA). The efficacy of a zinc lozenge is tied to its ZIA. It is the lozenge ZIA value, in addition to the appropriate amount of zinc contained within the lozenge, which affects the duration of a cold. This unique formulation is protected by multiple <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />U.S. patents.
The Zinx Cough Kit and Zinx Cold Kit contain Zinx Lozenges to reduce the severity and duration of the common cold as well as prescription drug products for symptomatic relief of various cold symptoms. The Zinx Kits provide a unique option for treating the common cold: a 2-pronged approach packaged together for the convenience of both patients and physicians.
"We are excited to offer healthcare professionals and their patients this unique and highly effective product and be able to tell the compelling clinical story behind Zinx Lozenges," said Philip S. Pesin, CEO of Auriga. "The addition of Zinx to our respiratory franchises, Extendryl® and Levall®, expands the options for doctors looking for treatment alternatives for their patients suffering from one of the most common human physical ailments. Zinx gives a boost to our sales representatives who now have yet another strong product in their arsenal."
