North American Minor Metals Predicament Obscured by Oil Crisis… Jack Lifton commentary, July 15, 2008

posted on Jul 21, 08 06:48AM

Dear Shareholder:

In our ongoing efforts to provide you with broader communications and industry information, we are pleased to alert you to the availability of new commentary by respected Rare Metals industry analyst Jack Lifton, on the growing reliance of the United States on foreign sources for many natural resources…not just petroleum. Mr. Lifton points out that this reliance is particularly acute with the Rare Earths which are of fundamental importance to the US economy, yet are entirely sourced in China. With increasing restrictions on Chinese exports of Rare Earths, Mr. Lifton calls for North American industry and government to recognize and develop secure North American Rare Earth supply options.

As followers Avalon Ventures Ltd. are well aware, Avalon’s Thor Lake project in the Northwest Territories represents one of these North American supply options and is perhaps the most attractive option because of its very large size, high grades and strong enrichment in the more scarce Heavy Rare Earths.
