Mr. Lifton points out that this reliance is particularly acute with the Rare Earths which are of fundamental importance to the US economy, yet are entirely sourced in China. With increasing restrictions on Chinese exports of Rare Earths, Mr. Lifton calls for North American industry and government to recognize and develop secure North American Rare Earth supply options.

As followers Avalon Ventures Ltd. are well aware, Avalon’s Thor Lake project in the Northwest Territories represents one of these North American supply options and is perhaps the most attractive option because of its very large size, high grades and strong enrichment in the more scarce Heavy Rare Earths.
