Chinese rare earth export quotas down more than 30% in H1

posted on Jan 12, 09 04:18AM

It seems to me they are trying to keep the prices of the metal up as I don't think that the motives appear to be geared towards keeping prices lower for domestic use.

"The recently released Chinese export quotas for rare earths for the first half of 2009 total 15043 tonnes, down about 34% compared to 22780 tonnes in the corresponding period in 2008."

And at a 34% reductions that means these metals could be heading for a correction soon especially if any shortages arise in the near term
