INDUSTRY BULLETIN: Avalon participates in Energy Storage Europe 2016 Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. (“Avalon”) was represented at Energy Storage Europe (“ESE”) 2016 held March 15-17 in Dusseldorf, Germany, by VP, Sales and Marketing, Pierre Neatby and Manager, Government Affairs, Brian St. Louis. The conference attracted 3,000 visitors from 54 countries. International energy storage conferences are becoming more frequent and attracting ever larger audiences, reflecting the growing global interest in this emerging sector. The conference provided Avalon with an opportunity to introduce Canada and the Separation Rapids Lithium Project as a future supplier of critical materials for rechargeable batteries. Avalon was an exhibitor in the Canadian Pavilion, supported by the Canadian Embassy in Germany. Her Excellency Marie Gervais-Vidricaire, Canada’s Ambassador to Germany, delivered opening remarks in which she spoke about the solutions Canada offers for energy storage in this vastly expanding market, including a secure and sustainable supply of lithium compounds from new developments such as Avalon’s Separation Rapids Lithium Project. Avalon also had the opportunity to present the Separation Rapids Project at the well-attended Speaker’s Corner. ESE gave Avalon the opportunity to interact and discuss current and future market direction with numerous large and small players in the global energy storage supply chain. While the electric automobile market has attracted the most attention as the main driver behind lithium ion battery demand, the transition to clean energy grids and home energy storage solutions will further accelerate energy storage growth. While conference attendees and exhibitors represented a wide range of energy storage technologies at various stages of commercialization, the prominent role of lithium battery storage exhibitors in supplying the clean and smart energy grids of today and of the future was unmistakeable. The conference wrapped up with the adoption of the Dusseldorf Statement, which noted that, “[Energy storage] technologies are ready for the market. And the market is the greatest innovation driver to continue to advance the use of storage for the energy revolution.” Further information on Energy Storage Europe can be found at http://www.energy-storage-online.com/.
