Rick Weidinger has been the Chief Executive Officer of Braintech since November 2007. Previous to his appointment at Braintech, Mr. Weidinger created a legacy of innovation and technology success stories, serving as a chief architect behind the emergence and growth of such highly regarded organizations as the Institutional Communications Company (ICC), MFS Communications Company (MFS), and Pontio Communications. At Pontio, he was Chairman, CEO, and majority shareholder of the local fiber-optic company which he sold to a Fortune 50 company in 2001. Prior to Pontio, Mr. Weidinger served as a founding member and VP Corporate Development for MFS, where he was responsible for over 25 transactions totaling more then $25 Billion. He presently sits on the Board of Directors of several North American corporations.
Mr. Weidinger has also been actively involved in open-wheel racing as owner and co-owner of several Indy cars since 2004, and currently owns A1 TEAM USA Holdings, which represents the United States in the global A1GP World Cup of Motorsport. He holds both Juris Doctor and MBA degrees from Creighton University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska. Mr. Weidinger resides in Great Falls, VA, and Vancouver, B.C. Canada.
Mr. Jones is the founder of Braintech, its first Chief Executive Officer and he continues to serve as a Director and advisor. As founder, Mr. Jones provided significant financial support and directed the Company's effort to successfully partner with industrial giant ABB, Inc. Between May 1995 and November 30, 2000, Mr. Jones was Director and CEO of Sideware Systems, Inc. (an IBM Premiere CRM business partner). Previous to founding Braintech, Mr. Jones since 1981, held senior technical and marketing management positions with several high tech companies - regionally in British Columbia, nationally in Canada and the US. Mr. Jones majored in Canadian economic history with a minor in computer science from the University of British Columbia.
Mr. Speros was appointed a Director on September 15, 1998. He is currently President and CEO of National Capital Golf Ventures, LLC, a privately held golf course and real estate development company located in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area.
For the past four years, Mr. Speros has also served as Chairman of the Ownership Committee for the Virginia Baseball Club, a group vying to bring a Major League Baseball team to the Washington D.C. region. In September 2004, the Washington D.C. area was awarded the Montreal Expos.
In 2002 Mr. Speros led the merger of Sideware Systems, Inc. and Knowledgemax, Inc. to form Knowledgemax, Inc., a privately held E-Learning Technology company, where he served as President for one year. From 1998 to 2002 Mr. Speros served as a Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sideware Systems, Inc. and of Sideware Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sideware Systems, Inc. From June 1993 to January 1997 Mr. Speros was the President and owner of two professional sports franchises, the Baltimore Stallions and Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
Mr. Lewis was appointed director on November 13, 2007. He is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Development at VeriSign (NASDAQ/VRSN), Inc., a leading provider of infrastructure services for Internet and Telecommunications networks. Prior to assuming this role at VeriSign, he held senior positions in Corporate Development and as the General Manager of VeriSign's Naming and Directory Services Group, known for running a major portion of the Internet's critical addressing infrastructure that manages the authoritative directories of all .com and .net domain names.
From 1986 to 2005, Lewis ran a wireless transportation systems integration company that is the market leader in RFID electronic toll collection systems, which he acquired from Control Data and sold to SAIC in 1994. Prior to 1986, Lewis managed an oil and gas exploration subsidiary of a publicly traded utility company (UGI Corporation) and was a Vice President of EF Hutton in the Municipal Finance group. Lewis is a Director of Delta Petroleum (NASDAQ/DPTR) and has served on numerous private boards. Lewis is a graduate of Deerfield Academy and holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Haverford College, class of 1977, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School, class of 1981.
Mr. Wong was appointed directory on November 13, 2007. He is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Opus8, Inc., a Chevy Chase, Md.-based private investment firm specializing in middle market buyouts, private equity and venture capital investment.
In 1991, Mr. Wong co-founded and served as CEO of CyberRep, Inc., until its acquisition in 2003 by Affiliated Computer Services (NYSE: ACS). At the time of its acquisition, CyberRep was one of the largest privately held CRM outsourcing companies in the world, operating six customer interaction centers throughout the USA with over 2,300 employees and $80 million in revenue in 2003. Today, the CyberRep/ACS business unit is one of the largest call center operations in the world, with over $850 million in revenue. In addition to garnering such prestigious awards as Customer Inter@ction Solutions magazine's MVP Quality Award and Customer Interface magazine's ACCE (Award for Call Center Excellence), CyberRep was ranked in INC. magazine's 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000's "Inc. 500" as the 51st, 53rd, 72nd and 408th fastest growing private company in the USA, respectively. CyberRep was profitable for 11 consecutive years and was backed by Allied Capital Corporation, a $5 billion investment company (NYSE: ALD).
Wong is a recognized international expert in CRM, direct marketing, and BPO. He has presented at dozens of industry events around the world, and has written numerous articles on the CRM and BPO spaces. He has also provided industry commentary on the ABC, Fox, NBC, CNBC, Maryland Public Television, and China's CCTV networks. Prior to co-founding CyberRep, he worked for 10 years in commercial real estate finance and investments.
Wong was the recipient of the 2001 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for Greater Washington. An "Entrepreneur in Residence" at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, he frequently guest lectures on entrepreneurship, leadership and finance at the University of Maryland, Georgetown University, and the University of Virginia.
Wong serves on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and is on the boards of several other prominent organizations and advisory groups. He is CEO of The Tien and Beverly Wong Foundation, which supports youth, education, and social services charities. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College where he majored in Government.
Mr. Habibi has been the Chief Technology Officer of Braintech since October 23, 2007 and President of Braintech Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary ofBraintech Inc, since June 19, 2001. Mr. Habibi was previously a Director and Chief Operating Officer for Braintech Inc., from June 19, 2001 to October 23, 2007.
Mr. Habibi supervises the design, development, and deployment of our products including the eVisionFactoryTM product for Vision Guided Robotics in industrial settings and the Volts-IQTM family of products for service and consumer robotics. Together with the Braintech development team, Babak received the prestigious Henry Ford Technology Award in 2003 for the development and deployment of the innovative Single Camera 3D (SC3DTM) technology. Mr. Habibi holds both a B.A.Sc and an M.A.Sc. from the University of Waterloo.
Mr. Dara has been in his current position since January 1, 2004 and is responsible for Braintech's global sales efforts as well as managing the company's affairs as they pertain to Braintech's exclusive partnership with ABB Robotics.
Prior to joining Braintech, Mr. Dara spent several years in sales management with global diversified manufacturer Illinois Tool Works, Inc. (ITW), a Fortune 200 company. In addition to his twenty years of automotive and manufacturing experience, Mr. Dara holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and a Master of Finance from Walsh College. He is married with two children and resides in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Mr. Manias joined the Braintech team in the fall of 2007. He is an innovative business strategist and results-oriented leader experienced in all facets of corporate management, new venture development and growth, sales, marketing, and operations.
Mr. Manias was Founder, President and Chairman of the Board of an international marketing technology company called, Vialuna Group. It is a full service direct and interactive marketing agency, which has offices in Dallas, London, Zurich and Dresden. He is on the Board of Directors for LTS-an international wholesale travel portal focused on destinations in Central and Eastern Europe, and finally was Founder of Vialuna Technology-an eighteen-person software development shop focused on web applications. Pete has also held senior positions at several other communication-focused businesses including El Paso Global Networks and AT&T.
Mr. Manias holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in Industrial Distribution (Industrial Engineering and Business). At Texas A&M he also was in the Corps of Cadets (Military Organization) and was selected to an elite group of the Sull Ross Volunteers, the Honor Guard of the Governor of the State of Texas. He is married with two children.
Mr. White was appointed Senior Vice-President, Administration on October 23, 2007, Treasurer since November 1, 2000 and Secretary since August 28, 2002. Mr. White was previously a Director and Chief Financial Officer from November 1, 2000 to October 23, 2007. Mr. White has been a member of the British Columbia Institute of Chartered Accountants for 33 years and, for 23 of those years, Mr. White practiced as a self-employed chartered accountant serving clients in both the public and private sectors. Mr. White is not a director of any other public companies.
Remus Boca joined Braintech in January 2002, bringing tremendous expertise with more than a decade of applied experience in advanced computer programming, robotics, vision and mechatronics. As one of our senior scientists, he played a critical role in modeling, development and implementation of robotic vision technologies such as single and multi camera 3D (SC3D. SR3D. DD3D), auto calibration and algorithms allowing our robots to intelligently overcome the problems posed by irregularly-featured parts. In 1996, Mr. Boca graduated from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. a year later with a thesis on “Off-line programming techniques of industrial robots.” In 2001 he completed his Ph.D., and a dissertation on “Automated computation of industrial robot characteristics.” Mr. Boca has worked with companies such as Automatica S.A. (Romania), Technorob S.A. (Romania), ICG EuroTopo (Romania), Radix Controls (Windsor, ON), and Microsoft.NET.
Simona Pescaru’s introduction to computers began during her years at Technical University of Iasi in Romania, where she received her Master of Science Degree in Computer Science and degree in Electrical Engineering, with automation and computers as specialization fields. She later earned her Ph.D. from the same university, writing a dissertation on “Alternate Techniques in Image Processing,” and helping to develop the next generation of computer engineers, teaching several courses including Image Processing and Graphics and Assembly Language Programming. Since joining Braintech as a Vision Engineer in April 1997, Ms. Pescaru has been instrumental in the design and implementation of most of the vision components and solutions used in the company’s projects.
Jefffrey Beis started at Braintech in August, 2005, after initially being introduced to the company as a computer vision consultant. While at Braintech, In his role as robotic vision scientist, he has provided major contributions to some of Braintech's most advanced technologies, including SL3D (single camera with laser) and RBP (random bin picking). Dr. Beis holds a B.Sc. (Dalhousie) and M.Sc. (U.of T.) in physics, and a Ph.D. in computer vision (UBC). His doctoral work focused on methods to speed up the object recognition process. Prior to Braintech, he ran a consulting company providing computer vision solutions (2003-2005), and before that was a consultant at Point Grey Research (2001-2003), manufacturers of digital stereo cameras, working to improve their stereo processing algorithms.
Mohammad Sameti joined Braintech in October 2000 as a Senior Vision Engineer and became heavily involved in the design and development of the eVisionFactoryTM software product. His progression to the Project Manager position provided him a deeper knowledge and understanding of the product, its capabilities as well as business relations and the sales process. Prior to Braintech, Mr. Sameti’s work experience included: Senior R&D Engineer at Motion Metrics Inc., Sessional Instructor at the Computer Science Department of the University of British Columbia and various other teaching and research assistantship positions during his graduate studies. Mr. Sameti received his M.A.Sc. (Systems Design Engineering Dept.) from the University of Waterloo in 1994, and his Ph.D. (Electrical & Computer Engineering Dept.) from the University of British Columbia.
Mr. Milton joined Braintech Inc. in November 2008, and leads the company’s acquisition process and business development. He also provides legal counsel and advice on strategic planning and growth.
Mr. Milton was previously the President and Chief Executive Officer of Unity Communications, Inc., from 2002-2008. He was also the President and CEO of Synecom Communications Corporation, an integrated communications provider, where he developed a business plan, raised the first two rounds of seed capital, and recruited a seasoned management team for this start-up communications company. In 1992, Mr. Milton became President of Optel Communications, Inc., a co-owner of an international submarine cable system sold to Teleglobe, Inc. in 1998. He was also President and Chief Executive Officer of Institutional Communications Company, Inc., one of the first competitive access providers in the United States. Through Mr. Milton’s efforts, ICC made a dramatic turnaround and demonstrated the early profit potential of competitive access providers. ICC was subsequently sold to MFS Communications Company, Inc. in 1991. Mr. Milton has also served as Chief Executive Officer of two real estate development companies, President of Sanctuary Golf Club, and was a partner with a national law firm in Washington. Mr. Milton is a graduate of Georgetown University (LL.M.), Washington College of Law at American University (J.D.), and Michigan State University (B.A.). He lives with his wife and two sons in Potomac, Maryland.
A seasoned executive with more than 25 years of legal and business experience, Mr. McCabe joined Braintech in November 2008. As President of Braintech Government & Defense, Inc., he is responsible for the growth and management of Braintech in the government and defense sector. He also serves as Braintech’s General Counsel and as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development.
Prior to joining Braintech, Mr. McCabe served as Vice President & Deputy General Counsel of XM Satellite Radio from 2005 to 2008 through its merger with Sirius Satellite Radio. In 2008, XM’s Law Department won the prestigious "Outstanding Small Law Department" award from the Washington, DC area chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. From 2001 to 2005, Mr. McCabe was President & CEO of COBIS Corporation and MicroBanx Systems, software providers to the financial services sector. He was a senior executive at GRC International from 1992 through its successful sale to AT&T in 2000. In his early career he spent 10 years was an attorney in private practice in Washington, DC after a judicial clerkship in the U.S. District Court there.
Mr. McCabe received a law degree and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, and a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University.
