NEWS - Brigadier Gold (TSX-V:BRG) Extends Gold Zone at Depth at Larder Lake Project, Visible Gold Identified Below 200 Metres Vertical Depth

posted on Oct 16, 08 05:29AM

TORONTO, ONTARIO-(Oct. 16, 2008) - Brigadier Gold Limited ("Brigadier")(TSX VENTURE:BRG) today announced the discovery of an extension at depth of the gold zone in the M-Island Zone of its Larder Lake Project located in Ontario's prolific Kirkland Lake-Larder Lake gold camp. The discovery zone lies beneath trenches in which visible gold was discovered in 2005.

The extension to the gold zone, which was first identified in holes MI-08-05 and hole MI-08-06 (see news release dated August 13, 2008), was intersected in Holes MI-08-08 and MI-08-09. Hole MI-08-09 returned grades up to 35.93 g/t gold over 1.5 metres as part of a 48.2 metre section grading 1.56 g/t from 196.7 metres to 244.9 metres. The 35.93 g/t assay represents an arithmetical average of the three highest separate assays (12.21 g/t, 11.76 g/t, 83.83 g/t) done by Laboratoire Expert Inc. of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec on that 1.5 metre section. The various assays were widely variable indicating a probable nugget effect. Brigadier plans more sampling to determine how widespread the nugget effect may be.

"We are very impressed by the results of this year's drilling which has extended the gold mineralization to more than 200 metres vertical depth and intersected some of the highest grades to date, including visible gold below 200 metres vertical depth, in the M-Island Zone," said Herb Kokotow, President and CEO. "These results highlight the tremendous exploration potential of the Larder Lake Project, and we are currently evaluating plans to follow up on these significant results."

Results have been received from holes MI-08-08 and MI-08-09. Of the holes, MI-08-09 returned the highest grade results. Hole MI-08-09 was oriented to cut mineralization below the surface trenches where visible gold was found on the west side of M-Island. The hole intersected numerous intervals of significant gold mineralization, including:

Hole MI-08-08 was drilled from the same location as hole MI-08-09 and angled north-westerly to test horizontal continuity of the vein system exposed by the trenches on the west side of the island. It tested down to about 150 metres vertically, passing south of the trenches, and cut a number of gold bearing zones, including:

Hole MI-08-07 was lost in overburden and not completed. All the above values were from alteration zones in feldspar porphyry with quartz veining. All intersections reported are core length and not true widths; true widths will be shorter in nearly all cases. All assays are uncut. Analyses were conducted by Laboratoire Expert Inc.

Exploration is supervised by L.G. Hobbs, P.Eng., Brigadier Gold's Project Geologist and a qualified person under National Instrument 43-101. Mr. Hobbs has reviewed and approved the contents of this news release.
