I believe they originally tried to mess with the Tivo groups a la cease and desist etc. but probably realized they had much bigger fish to fry with the p2p services.

Maybe someone else will answer you about burning your dvds cuz I haven`t tried that yet. Macrovision supplied the encryption/watermarking on most of the dvds I believe and they are constantly experimenting with the digital rights stuff so you know...your right to copy could be interrupted at any given time would be my guess.

It is quite the battle in Congress as we speak as to whether or not you have the right to burn a back-up copy of your dvd movie you purchased and you ``own``.
