IMS to unveil new content loader at WAEA

September 5, 2008 – A NEW embedded content loader will be one of the highlights of The IMS Company’s presence at the WEAE show in Long Beach next week.

The new device, the latest in the Californian handheld IFE leader’s range of Terminal Data Loaders (TDLs), will offer significantly faster loading, increased storage capacity and the ability to interface with multiple inflight entertainment systems.

Content is loaded on the aircraft twice as quickly as with the current TDL, which is in service with American Airlines, British Airways and Virgin America, and on-ground preparation of the load is up to five times faster, according to IMS sales and marketing VP Harry Gray.

“A 640GB SATA removable hard drive and a Gigabit Ethernet interface help to meet market demand for larger content sets and shorter load times,” he says. “And our easy-to-use ‘insert and go’ technology cuts labour costs and protects ground schedules.”

The new device can support wireless content upload and the download of usage and other data from the aircraft via 3G cellular, WiFi and WiMAX. It is backwards-compatible with the current TDL, using the same avionics tray, connectors, wiring and ground support infrastructure.
