This move is being done in an effort to gain some ground on the movie rental service, Netflix. Users will be able to access digital rentals via the Internet, just using their televisions remote control and a built-in feature in the television itself.

The rental prices will cost anywhere from $1.99 to $3.99 and will allow users to view their rentals for a period of 24 hours.

Netflix has been offering their video streaming service as a supplement to their DVD rental subscription. Since the launch of their streaming service, they have been working on having their streaming features built into television products.

This deal between Blockbuster and Samsung joins the world’s largest flat-screen television producer and one of the largest movie rental companies. This has enabled Blockbuster to move in on Netflix as service is being incorporated into Samsung home theater systems, Blue Ray, and DVD players.
