SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - March 23, 2015) - e.Digital Corporation (EDIG), a long standing source of innovation and future-defining patented technologies, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted the Company U.S. Patent 9,002,331.

"This new patent adds to the significance of, and is a further continuation of, the existing six patents in our Nunchi® patent portfolio," said Fred Falk, president and CEO of e.Digital Corporation. "This patent is foundational to the larger Nunchi patent portfolio that we expect to play an important role in the future of mobile communications. Additional Nunchi patent applications are in progress and poised to add even more value to the portfolio."

Nunchi technology encompasses the drawing together of data from fixed or mobile sensors and uniquely fusing it to recognize, understand and affect interactions. Services based on the technologies taught by the Nunchi portfolio include the use of servers, communication networks, sensors, adaptive algorithms and relational databases to understand and respond to the needs of people. Applications of Nunchi technologies range from simplistic tasks such as communication screening to more complex tasks such as optimizing a user's interactions and activities to enrich their lives.

The Nunchi patent portfolio includes foundational technologies for mobile devices, cloud computing and adaptive computing enabling mobile devices to function introspectively, adaptively, and anticipatorily, providing new classes of user experiences, new revenue models and adding value for mobile communications. These technologies gather sensor and user data from enabled mobile devices. Then cloud based advanced signal processing can be used to combine sensor and user information, interpret surroundings, activities, conditions and the social situation of the user, and act on that intelligence. The greatest impact of Nunchi technology is realized when all of the layers of local sensor, historic data, group interaction and world information are integrated together to deliver greater levels of social, business, lifestyle, personal safety, and market intelligence functionality.

Nunchi technologies enable applications in the areas of health, wellness, emergency response, personal safety, social and professional networking, user diaries, communication screening and time management. The Nunchi technology also supports enhanced levels of privacy protection by reacting to user individualities to deliver enhanced privacy and security for users.
