Yuck!! :>)

I'll tell you what's great. Yesterday I made a Polish soup I grew up with made by my Polish grandmother and my mom. It's called czarnina(pronounced char nee na)"black soup". You typically use a duck or goose as the meat ingredient. What might turn some people off is collecting the blood of the freshly killed fowl and using it in the soup. The Polish word for "black" is "charny". The blood darkens the soup. Before you barf, may I remind you that the gravies we commonly eat are flavored and colored by the blood of the fowl and animals we use. Of course there are other ingredients like prunes, other dried fruit, sauerkraut juice, onions, brown sugar, and various spices. There are many recipes but this is the one I grew up on and was passed on to me.

Both my g'mother and mom used to make their own noodles but I don't. I find that cavatelli is a great substitute. :>) How's that for diversity? :>)

The whole family loves the stuff including my son. Occasionally, I have to bribe him to visit me. To paraphrase..."Make it and he will come". :>)
