Many of us expect immediate action from third parties to intervene since the acquisition bid from Noront.
I use to speak with mining majors around 2 years ago to understand their game when it comes to takeovers, and as good as a deal pertaining to certain property acquisitions, there is a "chain of command" that will take weeks and months to complete. Much like Noront's decision to bid for Freewest, the protocol would be the same. Just like assay results, there is a required timeline to determine the outcome. For us we go minute by minute and it may seem longer than it should, but it is a sequence of events.
Usually, if a major is interested, they will fly down their geologists to the site to examine drillcores and assay results, especially if strike lengths are hit that are beyond normality, almost instantly after the assays results are released.
One company I spoke with, the CEO visited the site almost 9 times before acquiring assets from another company in 2006-2007.
The bidding company has to be confident that they can get not twofolds but three or tenfolds what their original bid was. Maybe that is why Cliffs participated in a minority stake in Freewest, they like what they see, but are not 100% certain, and they have to be. McFaulds lake may be a wildlife cooridoor for endangered species and environmental assessments are still required before initiating anything in that area. Example: the Species At Risk Act was violated when a mining major removed trees that were integral to the wetland ecosystems in the maritime and were fined heavily for this disregard.
I am not saying that this will occur, I am sharing the stark reality of takeovers, there are a lot of factors to examine, if Freewest is bought out, will the beneficiaries be able to produce immediate results for their shareholders since it is diluting their capital resources, or will it end up like "Windfall". Same with Noront Resources, Mac made it clear that Noront had no Chrome focus and it would dilute Noront's share capital if the acquisition was made, this is a very critical remark when addressing shareholders. The onus and burden of proof is placed upon the bidders for Freewest to establish the cost-benefit analysis, not the other way around.
Mac said to wait till all options are on the table from the news release, remember this is your money, and it is up to you to make up your own mind, do not jump on the bandwagon to other people's opinion. Wait for Mac's next move, then decide.
Have a great week everyone, don't get angry over these forums, life is but a breath,
