The latest update on US natural gas inventories showed stocks fell by a record 274bn cubic feet last week due to cold weather. Nymex March Henry Hub dipped 6 cents to $7.985 per million British thermal units

The latest US weekly in-ventories data, released on Wednesday, showed a larger-than-expected rise in both crude and gasoline stocks as refinery utilisation sank to its lowest level for almost two years.

Analysts said lower refinery utilisation pointed to US demand softening and that this would strengthen the position of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries members who wanted to keep production quotas unchanged.
