Summer natural gas prices expected to remain between CD$11 -13

posted on Jun 20, 08 05:23AM

In general the consensus by analysts on energy is the increase in demand and decrease in supply. Needless to say these are non-renewable energy sources and society is highly energy dependant. A hot summer will increase the demand for natural gas, so is the expectation for July, August and September.

Following is a report by the National Energy Board of Canada. Quoting from the article

Natural gas prices are rising as well, and have more than doubled since last fall. Prices are expected to remain between $US 11-13 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) this summer. This is due in part to record crude oil prices, lower liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports into North America, declines in Canadian production, a greater volume of gas needed to refill storage and the usual uncertainty of potentially hot summer weather.
