Volume spike intrigued me

That massive volume spike before Christmas I found rather intriguing. I guess it is possible for someone to have done some tax loss selling but that implies they made a capital gain somehwere. Or is it likely that someone accumulated an awful lot of these shares for a bargain basement price. I'm still watching.
