US consumer prices rise less than expected in April; core CPI slows
While this contradicts expectations based on yesterday's PPI release, it happens sometimes. Still, I will give more weight to future expectations for the CPI based on rising expectations for the wholesale prices segment of the PPI. If costs are rising for producers and wholesalers, that has to trickle down into consumer goods eventually.
