Major preparing for low grade Moly concentrate

  1. new investments into moly suggesting demand growth to continue
  2. low grade concentrate is the way forward

Rio Tinto to invest $270 million in molybdenum autoclave process facility

BOSTON, Jun 11, 2008 (Thomson Financial via COMTEX) -- RTP | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Rio Tinto PLC said Wednesday that it will invest $270 million in the construction of a molybdenum autoclave process facility at its Kennecott Utah Copper Bingham Canyon operation in Salt Lake City.

The company said this will enable lower-grade concentrate to be processed more efficiently than conventional roasters, allow improved molybdenum recover and operating flexibility and enable production of chemical grade molybdenum products.
