This is what Milowe Brost, Gary Sorenson are now facing!
A jury has found Gary Sorenson and Milowe Brost guilty of fraud in a
Ponzi scheme that bilked millions of dollars from investors between
1999 and 2008.

After a five-month trial — one of the longest in Calgary criminal
history — the 11-member jury declared both Calgary men guilty of two
counts each of theft and fraud. Brost was also declared guilty of
money laundering.

Both will remain in custody until sentencing, and the Crown said it
will seek the maximum sentence for fraud — 14 years.

Over the course of the trial, which sat for 61 days of evidence and
five days of final arguments and instructions, court heard that
investors in three companies — Strategic Metals, Syndicated Gold
Depositories and Base Metals LLC — lost their money invested in
proposed gold mines based in Honduras, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru,
Canada and the United States.

According to evidence, Brost and Sorenson bilked between $100 million
and $200 million from about 2,000 investors.
