No I don't agee a phone call is the proper way to go at all. Unless it's recorded and agreed in advance that it is, how does anyone prove afterwards what was said?
IMO the proper way is to present the company with a list of questions and then the company publish the answers officially, on their website or in an official email from a company account.
Dialogue has to be official, anything less is a waste of time, you have to have accountability.
