NEWS - TCR And The Owners of Mt Copeland Agree to Discontinue Negotiations

posted on Jun 26, 07 05:30AM

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - June 26, 2007) - Further to its News Release of April 18, 2007, Torch River Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:TCR) ("Torch") wishes to announce that it is discontinuing its interest in the Mount Copeland Property.

Torch entered into a Letter of Intent ("LOI") dated April 13, 2007 with the current owners of Mount Copeland which was to close by July 15, 2007. Unfortunately the terms of the option agreement could not be agreed upon.

It has therefore been agreed by both Torch and the current owners to terminate the LOI.

Torch is in the process of investigating another property in British Columbia for possible outright purchase. Torch anticipates that if this purchase is completed a work program on that property will be carried out this summer.

Further to our press release of June 7, 2007, Torch is has begun mobilizing its camp at its Red Bird property.

Torch has contracted with Neill's Mining Ltd to drill up to 8 holes (approximately 7000 feet) in an area of the property which had no previous drilling. This area lies in the northwest region of the 4000 foot by 5000 foot Red Bird intrusion and was identified as a prime target for drilling by the soil and chip sampling and ground geophysics carried out in Torch's 2006 program on Red Bird (see the August 15, 2006 release at our website, www.torchriver.ca).

Torch is expecting that the drill on Red Bird will be mobilized in the first week of July, with drilling continuing at least to the end of August.

Andris A. Kikauka is a Qualified Person under NI 43101 and has reviewed and approved the technical data in this press release.

Torch River resources Ltd is a company listed and trading on the TSX Venture Exchange, symbol: TCR.
