CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 2, 2007) - Torch River Resources Ltd ("Torch") (TSX:TCR) is pleased to announce that the TSX has accepted for filing documentation to a Purchase Agreement (the "Agreement";) between Torch River Resources Ltd. (the "Company") and William Pfaffenberger a non-arms length party (the "Vendor"). The Company will acquire six mineral claims at Grouse Mountain for $33,060.00. This transaction should be closing shortly.

Torch has also been informed by its geologist that the drill at its Red Bird molybdenum/rhenium property is presently drilling its sixth hole in a 10 hole drill program. The first five holes drilled a total of 4,783 feet. Torch's plan for this year's program is to drill up to 10,200 feet. Assay results from the first hole, drilled to a depth of 1430 feet, have been sent to our assayer and results will be released once they are received.

Andris A. Kikauka is a Qualified Person under NI 43-101 and has reviewed and approved the technical data in this press release.
