NEWS - Torch River Resources Encounters 14m of 0.18% Mo

posted on Aug 12, 08 05:30AM

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 12, 2008) - Torch River Resources Ltd ("Torch") (TSX VENTURE:TCR) (PINK SHEETS:TORVF) (FRANKFURT:WNF) is pleased to announce that it has completed its first deep diamond bit drill hole in its 2008 program on at its Red Bird property in British Columbia. DDH 156 was drilled to a depth of 617.55 meters and was spotted at the same location as DDH 132 (2006) however was drilled nearly vertical where DDH 132 was drilled north at -65 degrees. DDH 132 returned .152 % molybdenum over 100meters from 286 meters to 386 meters depth. A total of 6,400 meters of drilling is planned in 2008.

The results of assays on the diamond drill hole (DDH) are as follows:

DDH 156 ended in mineralization at 617.55 meters depth
Note: Equivalent molybdenum percentages were calculated using prices
of $33 and $3.50 per pound of molybdenum (Mo) and copper (Cu)
respectively.

Torch is very encouraged by the results of this first hole in its 2008 program and will report further results as they become available. Further deep holes are planned later in the program to test the down dip potential opened up by DDH 156 and DDH 132. These adjacent holes are planned to go deeper because geochemical data from DDH 156 indicates mineralization is improving at depth.

A diagram of the location of DDH 156 and the drill holes of the 2008 program can be viewed at http://www.corebox.net/properties/re... or at Torch's web site at www.torchriver.ca.
