CALGARY, ALBERTA, Jan 4, 2011 (Marketwire via COMTEX News Network) --

Torch River Resources Ltd. ("Torch" or the "Corporation") (TSX VENTURE:TCR) (FRANKFURT:WNF) (PINK SHEETS:TORVF) announces today that the Board of Directors granted an aggregate of 800,000 stock options to purchase common shares pursuant to its stock option plan to a total of 4 officers and directors of Torch effective January 4, 2011. All of the stock options vest immediately and were granted at an exercise price of $0.10 per common share. Of the 800,000 stock options granted, an aggregate of 550,000 stock options were granted to 3 directors (including 1 director who is also an officer) and 250,000 stock options were granted to 1 officer of Torch (who is not a director). The stock options expire on January 04, 2016.

Torch is a company listed and trading on the TSX Venture Exchange, symbol: TCR.
