DML to seek assets near processing plants

posted on Oct 22, 07 12:58PM
URANIUM TheStar.com | Business | Denison to seek assets near processing plants Oct 19, 2007 04:30 AM Denison Mines Corp., a North American uranium producer, is considering acquisitions near its processing operations in the U.S. and Canada. The Vancouver-based company in July increased its stake in OmegaCorp. Ltd., which runs the Kariba uranium project in Zambia, to 55 per cent as part of a plan to expand in Africa. "We definitely want to look at opportunities (near the North American mills)," Denison Mines president Ronald Hochstein said at a BMO Capital Markets meeting in London yesterday. Uranium production will climb to between 2.5 million and 2.9 million pounds next year from 700,000 pounds this year, Hochstein said. The price of uranium, which is processed as fuel for nuclear reactors, was $78 (U.S.) a pound as of Oct. 12, according to TradeTech LLC, a Denver-based publisher. It was at a record $138 in June.
