I've been in the same boat. Missed out on some great profits by not holding long enough. I've also held too long and seen some drill results turn out poorly. Sometimes it's best to sell half of a postion(up 30% or more) before the drill results and then sell the other half after the drill results. You either come out even if it's poor results or come out above 50% or more on great results. But the thing to remember is; there are always other stocks with great potential around the corner to invest in.
