silver historically hasnt done well during a recession, so that's probably why silver is being hit harder than gold. Having said that during the flight to safety after 9/11, silver outperformed gold.

The Bank of England is now under pressure to cut interest rates, and I wouldnt be surprised to see the Fed doing the same, that generally supports commodities priced in dollars.

Another point, apparently the silver market is being formerly investigated by the Fed, and there's a two tier gold market, which probable means there's a two tier silver market as well, Comex and spot.
