VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 4, 2009) -

ATW Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:ATW) ("ATW" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the Project Management Plan for the Company's wholly owned Burnakura Gold Mine has been approved by the Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum. As a result, all applicable mining permits and licenses are in place. Mining and processing operations have now begun.

In anticipation of formal government approval, mine contractors, key personnel and work crews were mobilized to the property to begin start-up operations in late February. Some of the key personnel at Burnakura include:

Craig Bradshaw, General Manager

- BSc Mining Engineer graduated from Western Australia School of Mines (1994).

- Holder of an Australian First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.

- Fifteen years underground mining experience in Australia and Africa.

- Companies worked for include Western Mining and Newmont.

Mark Piggot, Senior Engineer

- BSc Mining Engineer graduated from Western Australia School of Mines (1998).

- Fifteen years underground mining experience in Australia.

- Companies worked for include Mincor and Barrick.

David Beneke, Chief Geologist

- BSc (Hons) Geology, graduated from Witwatersrand (1986).

- Over 20 years underground Mining experience.

- Long career with Harmony Gold.

Ray Creese, Metallurgist

- BSc, Graduated from Birmingham University.

- Over 30 years of metallurgical experience in processing plants in Australia, Africa and Asia.

- Companies worked for include Anvil, Ivanhoe, Ashanti, BHP, DeBeers and Cyprus.
