WAVETREND TECHNOLOGIES RECEIVES INTRINSIC SAFETY (IS) CERTIFICATION FOR PERSONNEL AND ASSET TRACKING DEVICE

Wavetrend Technologies Ltd, a world leader in the deployment of track and trace solutions, announced today that they received certification for an RF reader that successfully meets all the requirements for Intrinsically Safe (IS) certification under the new IECex standard. The RF reader was developed in conjunction with Wavetrend’s accredited partner NLT Australia (a subsidiary of NL Technologies (NLT), a designer and manufacturer of underground digital communications solutions for the mining industry) to be integrated into NLT’s Northern Light Digital™ Network.

The Northern Light Digital™ Network is a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) designed to withstand the rigors of underground environments. Rugged and reliable, the RF readers produced by Wavetrend are a perfect component to be used in this setting. Combining the newly certified reader with its existing infrastructure, NLT is the first mining solutions provider to achieve IS certification for an entire underground digital network.

The Northern Light Digital™ Network, bolstered by Wavetrend’s track and trace technology innovations, opens up tremendous opportunities for underground coal. By providing optimal visibility in personnel tracking and environmental monitoring, this underground digital network will improve safety by enabling real-time access to critical information, while at the same allowing for strategic deployment of assets and increased productivity.

Currently, NLT has a number of major coal projects underway both in Australia and overseas.
NLT is working on achieving IS certification for its digital network in other markets with MSHA
approvals pending.
