Attention Business Editors:

Active Control launches ActiveMine(TM) partner certification program
Unique new program enables customers to "Get more out of your mine"

TSX-V: ACT

TORONTO, March 5 /CNW/ - Active Control Technology Inc. (TSX-V:ACT) today
launched a partner certification program for ActiveMine(TM), the premier
wireless voice communications and locating system for mines.
The ActiveMine network supports wireless voice communications and
electronic tracking - two critical components required for compliance with the
MINER Act. Beyond voice and tracking, the network's large bandwidth supports a
myriad of other data and video applications. These additional applications,
while providing great operational efficiencies for the mine, must not impact
the legally mandated voice and tracking applications. The new ActiveMine
certification program ensures that any new application will work flawlessly
without negatively impacting other features, including those required by law.
Because ActiveMine is the first fully wireless broadband IP network for
mines, a growing number of application providers recognize the advantages it
offers in providing their technologies to mining customers. By harnessing
their applications to ActiveMine's open standards network, they no longer need
to install another proprietary hard-wired network, at significant additional
cost.
The benefits are equally attractive for mine managers. No longer do
multiple, separate networks have to be installed for voice, data, video, CO
monitoring and belt monitoring. With ActiveMine, operators can install a
single, robust wireless network to support all applications, and be fully
confident they will operate compatibly. ActiveMine's open standards
architecture also means that they can now use off-the-shelf Wi-Fi based
equipment.
Beyond cost savings, ActiveMine's broadband network enables mine
operators to track production data from miners and mine equipment in real
time. This gives them visibility into production efficiency that previously
did not exist.
"We know from our customers that if you can monitor it, you can manage
it," said Steve Barrett, Active Control's President and CEO. "On the flip
side, if you can't measure it, then it is nearly impossible to manage. Our
goal is to help mine operators move to a new level of operational efficiency
by enabling rapid and easy adoption of new applications. ActiveMine makes it
possible for them to get more out of their mine."
Under the new certification program, products and applications to be used
with ActiveMine's wireless mesh Wi-Fi network will undergo rigorous testing to
ensure they are compatible with the system. The certification program will
help Active Control build incremental revenues through the sales and services
generated by new certified offerings.

About ActiveMine

The ActiveMine communications, data and tracking system enables
monitoring of production, personnel and equipment in all types of surface and
underground mining environments, including coal and base metal mines. The
system is designed to:

<<
- Provide full duplex clear voice communications and tracking in one
system.
- Be easily expanded with "plug & play" installation as a mine grows.
- Easily add other applications like machinery monitoring, belt
monitoring, CO monitoring and streaming video.
- Operate on a 100 percent wireless Wi-Fi network backhaul capable of
transmitting high speed data and voice communications.
- Be less susceptible to water and mechanical damage of all sorts,
including rock fall.
- Use open-standards technology and support other Wi-Fi devices.
- Meet federal MINER Act requirements for wireless systems.
- Enable miners who become isolated underground to stay linked, even
when they are distant from one another and cut off from the outside
world - a capability made possible by the system's unique
"Starfish(TM)" feature.
- Provide a wireless communications and data network above-ground,
linked seamlessly to underground networks.
