I have talked with NYSE and not with COMEX(would not return calls). I believe that you can start requesting delivery from Nov 28 on Comex and can take delivery until December 31. In reality, most of the delivery requests will be made before December 23 based on holidays.

There should be some serious volatility around option expiration date so as to keep speculators out of the money and out of the market. The ones who are truly buying for the long term will not flinch at this volatility.

We will know by X-mas if this strategy is having any impact on COMEX. There will be screams from Gold bugs if deliveries are not met and price suppression if COMEX is still in charge.
