TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 27, 2012) - Carlisle Goldfields Limited (TSX:CGJ) ("Carlisle" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Harold Roy Shipes, a well-known mining executive in the International Base and Precious Metals Industry, as a new member of the Board of Directors of Carlisle.

Mr. Shipes has overseen acquisitions and development of a number of mining projects in the United States, Canada, Peru, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Honduras, Bolivia, Ireland, Mexico and Venezuela. He served as Vice President and General Manager of Operations of Southern Peru Copper Corporation, one of the largest copper producers in the world, and as CEO and General Manager of OK Tedi Mining Ltd., where he developed one of the largest copper mines in the world. During his career, Mr. Shipes has founded eight mining and mine services companies including American Pacific Mining Company, AmPac Mining Southwest, Arimetco International, Suramco Metals, Transoceanic Trading Company, Western States Engineering, Western Gold Resources and Western Chemicals.

Mr. Shipes is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and did post-graduate work in Mining and Metallurgical Engineering.

Mr. Shipes will be replacing Mr. Frank Smeenk who decided not to seek re-election as a Director of the Company at the latest annual shareholders' meeting. The Board would like to thank Mr. Smeenk for his commitment and able assistance to the Company over the past few years.
