Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said Thursday to opposition deputy Juan Guaidó that he belonged to a "criminal organization" that has planned the theft of Venezuelan assets, since before his self-proclamation, which took place on January 23 of this year.

Rodríguez informed that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro ordered the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) to open an investigation into the alleged crimes they have committed since their self-proclamation.

In his appearance before the media, he reiterated that " one of the strategic objectives " of Guaidó and his envoys to different countries is the appropriation of the Venezuelan state company Petróleos de Venezuela.

"Criminal organization"

The vice president accused Guaidó of being part of a "criminal organization with political façade" whose purpose is to deliver Venezuelan territory and its assets to transnational companies and the US Government.

At the press conference, he shared an audio with a conversation between Vanessa Neumann, representative of the opposition deputy in the United Kingdom, and Manuel Avendaño, external advisor of Guaidó, where the woman explains that the British Foreign Ministry will not support them if they speak on the issue of Esequibo, a disputed area between Venezuela and Guyana that has maritime and territorial areas with important natural resources.

In this sense, Rodríguez said that the Guaidó team intends to deliver the Esequibo to the US oil company ExxonMobil and other transnational companies.

"With this they are denying the legitimate rights that Venezuela has over that territory, over which there is a dispute that is settled in the framework of the 1966 Geneva agreement."

The Venezuelan State has repeatedly denounced the intentions of the ExxonMobil company to extract oil in waters subject to claim with Guyana. The most recent event of this type occurred at the end of December 2018.

Other actions

At the beginning of August, the vice president called the decision of a US court of appeals to give the Canadian mining company Crystallex the assets of the company Citgo, owned by PDVSA in the US, as a charge for 1.4 billion dollars. dollars owed by the South American country.

Rodríguez has pointed out the opposition deputy and the staff in charge of acting in "collusion" with the US Government to "illegally appropriate Venezuela's resources and assets abroad, concentrated in PDVSA subsidiaries: Citgo (USA). ), Monómeros (Colombia), PDV Caribe and PDV América.
