Budapest, January 12, 2009 (MTI-ECONEWS) - Consumers in Hungary are expected to use between 63-66m cubic metres of gas on Monday, Hungarian gas transmission company FGSZ announced on Monday morning.

Deliveries of gas from Ukraine to Hungary have not yet resumed and a 1st-grade restriction, switching off the largest consumers consuming more than 2,500 cubic metres per hour, will remain in force on Monday, FGSZ said.

FGSZ said that 66m cubic metres of gas would be available in Hungary on Monday, including 53m cubic metres of gas from underground storage units, 9m cubic metres in domestically extracted gas and 4m cubic metres of gas imported from western Europe.

Hungarian consumers used 62.5m cubic metres of gas on Sunday, the company reported.

FGSZ said that it had delivered only a portion of the amount, of 2.7m cubic metres of gas to Serbia and 1.5m cubic metres of gas, to be transited to Bosnia and Herzegovina after a fall in the volume received from Austria. FGSZ noted that the contracts with these contries allow the interruption of deliveries.

FGSZ said it stopped deliveries of gas to on Monday to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina as the Austrian service did not confirm it would transfer the volumes in question. FGSZ said it would resume deliveries to the two countries as soon as receiving confirmation.

Hungary began delivering gas to Serbia last Thursday, while Minister of Transportation, Telecommunications and Energy Affairs Csaba Molnar announced on Saturday that the country would begin transporting gas to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia as well.
