09:57 AM EST, 01/14/2020 (MT Newswires) -- GoGold Resources (GGD.TO) on Tuesday said its fourth-quarter silver production rose 80% to a record on higher production from its Parral Tailings Project in Mexico.
The company said it produced 584,998 silver-equivalent ounces in the period, up from 325,148 SEOs in the final quarter of 2018.
The Parral project is mining 21.3 million tonnes of tailings left from 340 years of mining at the Mexican site, with inefficient historic milling methods leaving high-grade silver and gold ores in the tailings.
"Production at Parral has increased for 5 consecutive quarters, and we are now at a production level we aim to maintain for the rest of the year. Our production rate this quarter is 80% higher than where we were at this quarter last year," chief executive Brad Langille said in a release.
GoGold shares were last seen unchanged at C$0.65 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
